Build Power in the Weight Room

Dumbell.jpgThrowing up big weight at the gym is not the real way to build explosive power. Light weights should also be used to allow you to accelerate up and through the lift. The reverse is also true, you can not simply lift light and expect to improve power. Try doing some heavy squats and then some vertical jumps with light weights. Use a Smith machine if your gym has one, this machine actually allows you throw the weight at the top of your lift.
